US pop star Lady Gaga has taken on a track known best to Aussies as the opening theme to the iconic comedy series Kath & Kim. The song, originally written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley for the 1964 stage musical The Roar Of The Greasepaint - The Smell Of The Crowd, is performed by Gaga for her film Joker: Folie à Deux. To most Australians, it is the bold and brassy version sung by Gina Riley, who also plays Kimberly Diane 'Kim' Craig (née Day) in the legendary comedy. Before being immortalised in to the fabric of Australian pop culture, thanks to Gina's  rendition, the song had been covered by the likes of Shirley Bassey in 1968 and Sammy Davis Jr in 1965. And now, the Born This Way hitmaker has taken a stab at the track - with the results markedly different to the brassy feel of the Kath & Kim version. Gaga's take, which also features on her new album Harlequin, is a much more  stripped back that builds to a crescendo thanks to rocking guitars. Speaking to Today Extra about the track, Kath & Kim star Peter Rowsthorn joked that he was 'constantly' hounded by the US pop star regarding the track. 'She's constantly calling me, so I know she's a big fan,' Pete, who play's Kim's on-again-off-again husband Brett in the series, said.  US pop star Lady Gaga has taken on a track known best to Aussies as the theme tune to the iconic comedy series Kath & Kim for her film Joker: Folie à Deux 'I said to Gaga, "If you want to do it, it's up to you. I'm the fifth banana in this thing".' Peter went on to mention that he did have a favourite between the two renditions. 'I believe the Gina Riley version, or the "Kim" version, is the better version.'  The Today Show posted a short clip featuring the Gaga's version over the Kath and Kim title sequence to Instagram and viewers were quick to issue their shock at the surprising cover version. 'Who cares about Shirley it's iconic because it's the Kath and Kim theme song,' they wrote. 'I cannot take Gaga seriously with this song hahahaha.'  Another did not hold back in their criticism of the Poke Face singer with: 'Totally sucks. Another flop of an album from Gaga. Abbie Chatfield has revealed the sexual act she would never engage in with her partner, Adam Hyde. The FBoy Island star, 29, recently opened up about the launch of her 'kink kit' sex toys and admitted that when it comes to bedroom fun, it's strictly a two-person affair. While she does fantasise about having a ménage à trois, Abbie admitted that it's something she could never actually go through with. 'I have a fantasy about, like, seeing my partner f*** someone else,' she told News Corp. 'But I think I know in my heart that I don't actually want to see it. I just want to talk about it like, that's something that I find hot. 'But in reality, would I want to see that? Maybe, probably not.' Lady Gaga is 'disappointed' at the immense flood of negative reactions to Joker: Folie à Deux, with the singer's team now keen to quickly push out other projects to help distract from the furor over the film, insiders claim. Todd Phillips‘ sequel was officially released in theaters on October 4, but despite expectations, it bombed, raking in just under $40 million at the domestic box office, and receiving the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history. Gaga, 38, is reportedly confused at the lack of love for her turn as Harleen Lee Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, 49, as the Joker - a role that won him the best actor Oscar in 2019 - in the wake of the standing ovation it received at the Venice Film Festival last month. 'Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don't love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered,' a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.  'She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC comics fan base.' Lady Gaga is 'disappointed' at the immense flood of negative reactions to Joker: Folie à Deux  They added: 'Her team is quietly looking at other projects they can roll out as they want to move on this from as quickly as possible.' But despite the lackluster reception from fans, a second source claimed she is not letting it deter her from returning to the big screen, with the singer said to be eyeing up a Quentin Tarantino movie. 'She is disappointed that Joker is pretty much a bomb,' they said.  'She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially since the first film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar. 'She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino's next and final film. Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she wants to audition.  'She's going to lobby hard to get a meeting with him once a script is presented, it is a bucket list moment for her to be involved.' Tarantino was set to create The Movie Critic which would have been his tenth and final film, but on April 17, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the project was canceled. The famed director is now believed to be working up a new project to mark his final cinematic release. The singer's team is now keen to push out other projects to help distract from the backlash, insiders have told DailyMail.com Joker: Folie à Deux has flopped at the box office, with the psychological musical thriller also landing the lowest CinemaScore for a comic book movie Gaga, real name is Stefani Germanotta, is hoping the Joker 2 flop will just be a small blip in her career, after the film received a D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a comic book movie.  Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year and also received terrible reviews — holds the higher score of C+. Joker notably opened with $96.2 million on its theater release in 2019 and eventually took a little over $1 billion in the global box office.  The first movie - which was also directed by Phillips - had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the budget more than doubled to around $200 million for Folie À Deux.  The sequel screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month, where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.    It had been projected to bring in around $70 million - but the number drastically dropped amid mixed reviews before release.  Audiences have since shared their opinions on the sequel, which features multiple musical sequences.  'Joaquin Phoenix don't deserve this,' wrote one on X. 'What happened to the script?' Another user added: 'Stop making sequels as musicals if the original wasn't a musical.'  An insider told DailyMail.com: 'Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don't love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered' 'Joker downfall really needs to be studied,' shared a third, along with a monkey staring out a window.  One fan branded it 'bad,' adding:' It was pretentious and dull. Has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance. 'It also insults the audience's intelligence. the songs were also underwhelming too. They shouldn't have let this escape to theaters.'  Another said: 'The audience that loved the first movie is not the same audience running to see musicals. This was a gigantic mistake from step 1.'  Many social media users have also slammed the movie's final scene, which saw Phoenix's Arthur Fleck brutally stabbed to death by a fellow inmate who could in fact by the real Joker. But others did jump in in defense of the film, with one hailing it 'amazing.' '100% as divisive as people are making it out to be,' they continued. 'I love that the film didn't try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to the storytelling they presented. It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.' Another user said: 'I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how it was structured as a meta-exploration of the first film's fandom and the musical elements were a lot of fun.' Another source explained: 'Gaga thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination' (pictured director Todd Phillips, Gaga and Phoenix in September) The insider explained: 'She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino's next and final film' One user claimed the film is 'getting universal hate despite being more interesting and creative than anything marvel has done in years is expected.' 'Joker 2 is genuinely such a clever movie which carries the character study format of the first movie into the second in a way which, surprisingly, will floor you by the end,' declared another. 'I'm astounded reception is this bad because this is SUCH a clever movie.' A video of Gaga and Phoenix's awkward reaction to being asked if Folie à Deux was 'everything they expected' went viral amid the backlash. For a few seconds, the two stars sat in silence as they both waited for the other to answer the question. 'Tell them how you feel, Joaquin,' Gaga said to her costar as she held out a fake microphone in front of him. 'It's so hard to talk about but I think we feel like we achieved what we set out to do,' he replied.

The cost for one of London's most pricey apartments will begin at £35million - with 600 megarich customers already securing a spot on the waiting list. Pricing details of billionaire John Caudwell's spectacular 1 Mayfair development have now been revealed and only those with the deepest pockets can hope to afford one of the lavish pads. The cheapest apartment on offer is expected to be an eye-watering 35million - around 70 times the average cost of a house in the capital. Due to complete in Spring 2026 the scheme will easily surpass London's previous record breaker, the £1.3billion One Hyde Park development in Knightsbridge. Caudwell told The Standard that there are already over 600 prospective buyers on a waiting list of billionaires and centi-millionaires who have expressed an interest in making a purchase at the scheme. There will be just 24 'principal residences' in the property including lateral apartments, penthouses and townhouses with up to five bedrooms, and five more smaller 'pieds-à-terre' apartments. The size of the homes has not yet been disclosed but the developers say even the most modest property will start with a guide price exceeded by only a handful of mansions in London's richest neighbourhoods.  The cost of London's most pricey apartments will begin at £35million - with 600 megarich customers already securing a spot on the waiting list. Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that transparency and integrity is at the heart of their reason for entering Parliament in the first place hear themselves? In the past few days they have mounted self-serving arguments against proposed electoral reforms that the major parties look set to come together to support. The reforms include caps for how much money wealthy individuals can donate, caps on the amount candidates can spend in individual electorates to prevent the equivalent of an arms race, and a $90million limit on what any party can spend at an election - actually less than the major parties currently spend. The proposed new laws also include lower disclosure thresholds for donations, thus increasing the transparency of who makes political donations in the first place. So the wealthy wont be able to hide behind anonymity while using their cash to influence election outcomes - and the extent to which they can use their wealth at all will be limited. The bill will further improve transparency by also increasing the speed and frequency that disclosures of donations need to be made. At present we have the absurd situation in which donations get made - but you only find out the details of who has given what to whom many months later, well after elections are won and lost. In other words, what is broadly being proposed will result in much greater transparency and far less big money being injected into campaigning by the wealthy. Teal Kylea Tink claimed the major parties were 'running scared' with the policy and warned the reform would 'not stop the rot'  Greens senate leader Larissa Waters (left) fired a warning shot - saying if it serves only the major parties 'it's a rort, not reform'. Teal independent ACT senator David Pocock (right) said: 'What seems to be happening is a major-party stitch-up' Anyone donating more than $1,000 to a political party, as opposed to $16,000 under the current rules, will need to disclose having done so. And how much they can donate will be capped. Yet the Greens and Teals have quickly condemned the proposed new laws, labeling them a 'stitch-up', 'outrageous' and 'a rort, not a reform'.  They have lost their collective minds after finding out that Labor's proposal just might secure the support of the opposition. I had to double check who was criticising what exactly before even starting to write this column. Because I had assumed - incorrectly - that these important transparency measures stamping out the influence of the wealthy must have been proposed by the virtue-signalling Greens or the corruption-fighting Teals, in a united crossbench effort to drag the major parties closer to accountability. More fool me. The bill, designed to clean up a rotten system, is being put forward by Labor and is opposed by a growing cabal of crossbenchers. It makes you wonder what they have to hide. Put simply, the Greens and Teals doth protest too much on this issue. Labor is thought to be trying to muscle out major political donors such as Clive Palmer Another potential target of the laws is businessman and Teal funder Simon Holmes à Court The Greens have taken massive donations in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations rules (Greens leader Adam Bandt and Senator Mehreen Faruqi are pictured) The major parties have long complained about the influence the likes of Simon Holmes à Court wields behind the scenes amongst the Teals.  And we know the Greens have taken massive donations from the wealthy in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations rules. Now that tangible change has been proposed, these bastions of virtue are running a mile from reforms that will curtail dark art of political donations. The Labor government isn't even seeking for these transparency rules to take effect immediately, by the way. It won't be some sort of quick-paced power play before the next election designed to catch the crossbench out. They are aiming for implementation by 2026, giving everyone enough time to absorb and understand the changes before preparing for them. Don't get me wrong, no deal has yet been done between Labor and the Coalition. I imagine the opposition want to go over the laws with a fine tooth comb. As they should - because it certainly isn't beyond Labor to include hidden one-party advantages in the proposed design which would create loopholes only the unions are capable of taking advantage of, therefore disadvantaging the Coalition electorally in the years to come. But short of such baked-in trickiness scuttling a deal to get these proposed laws implemented, the crossbench should offer their support, not cynical opposition, to what is being advocated for. They might even be able to offer something worthwhile that could be incorporated in the package. To not do so exposes their utter hypocrisy and blowhard false commentary about being in politics to 'clean things up'.

A video of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix's awkward reaction after they were asked to share their thoughts on Joker: Folie à Deux has gone viral amid the immense backlash that the film is facing. The highly anticipated Joker sequel hit theaters on Friday, but immediately, it was fiercely panned by viewers and critics alike. Amid the scrutiny, a clip of Lady Gaga and Joaquin discussing the film has taken over the web. While chatting with Good Morning Britain last week, the two stars were asked if the movie turned out to be 'everything they expected.' Immediately, they both turned to look at one another and smiled.  A video of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix's awkward reaction after they were asked to share their thoughts on Joker: Folie à Deux has gone viral amid the backlash the film is facing The highly anticipated Joker sequel hit theaters on Friday, but was almost immediately panned by viewers and critics For a few seconds, the two stars sat in silence as they both waited for the other to answer the question. 'Tell them how you feel, Joaquin,' Lady Gaga, 38, said to her costar as she held out a fake microphone in front of him. 'It's so hard to talk about but I think we feel like we achieved what we set out to do,' Joaquin, 49, simply stated.  Someone on X, formerly Twitter, posted the moment online last week and it went viral, gaining more then 437, 000 views in a matter of days - and many users took their initial silence as proof that they 'didn't like' the film. The internet has been flooded with negative posts about the flick ever since it premiered, with one user branding it as a 'bore' and another claiming it had 'no plot.' Many social media users have also slammed the movie's final scene, which saw main character Arthur Fleck (portrayed by Joaquin) brutally stabbed to death by a fellow inmate. This meant that the man that audiences had been watching over the course of the two movies was never the Joker at all, but in fact, the infamous villain from the Batman series was really just the random inmate who killed Arthur in the last moments of the film. The shocking twist left numerous viewers unsatisfied, and they took to social media to share their frustration. 'WTF you mean no Joker?'  'The ending made no sense,' added another person.  'That ending? It's so bad that not only it ruins Joker 2 but also the first Joker for the audience,' read a fourth tweet. 'The Joker had so much potential but that f**king ending ruined everything,' a fifth said.  The Todd Phillips-directed musical serves as a follow-up to the 2019 box office hit, which was simply titled Joker.  The first film grossed over $1 billion and at the time was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. It received 11 Oscar nominations - two of which it won.  The sequel, however, has already been much less successful. It had a lackluster $40 million debut at the box office in its first weekend, and has a low rating of 33 percent and 31 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. 'Undoing much of the goodwill from its predecessor, the sequel convolutes what could have been a unique character study into a bloated encore that goes out with a whimper,' reads one review.  Another critic wrote, 'This movie is a disjointed mess and a waste of time. It's just tired, not particularly interesting, but it does look good from a production design standpoint.' Lady GagaTwitterJoaquin Phoenix
